Biography

Tommy Ngo's real name is Ngo^ Quang Tu`ng. He was born on February 19 (Pisces for those who believe in the stars), in Da Lat, but moved to Saigon when he was four years old. Tommy came from a large family. He has ten older sisters with Tommy being the youngest boy. His family left Vietnam in 1975 leaving behind one of Tommy's older sister. Before settling in California, the Ngo's family lived in Caldwell, Idaho, for 14 years where Tommy attended Caldwell High School up to his Junior Year. The family then moved to Fullerton, California in 1990 where he graduated from Buena Park High School. Tommy presently resides in Irvine California. According to Tommy, moving to California has opened his world to various opportunities and potentials.

Tommy has never had any training in music except for his early years in high school where he took music classes and he was once a drummer for a band. He recalled, my most memorable time then was playing the drums for Jazz Band at C.H.S. There were hundreds of people at the school concert. When my drum solo came up I remember rocking the house with my drums. Everyone was clapping for me. After the concert, the school principal came up to me and congratulated me on such a fine performance. Little kids from lower grades that played drums came up to me and said they wanted to be just as good as I was. In college, Tommy pursued the field of computer science and completed his junior year before being bitten by the musical bug. When asked about his first pay job as a performer, Tommy said, I sang in a concert I organized with a band that I formed called Shadowbox. I believe I was 16 years old. That night we sold tickets and each band member received $400 dollars.
In1995, through the introduction of Henry Chuc and his wife, Tommy got his first break in show business working as a dancer on one of Trizzie Phuong Trinh's performance of Kho^ng in an Asia Productions video. Not long thereafter, Tommy was invited by Truong Thanh Production to dance in one of their videos. While working with Truong Thanh, Tommy was encouraged to cut his own demo song and the rest, as they say was history, as the song was used in one of Truong Thanh's video. Prior to this experience, Tommy never considered singing as a career although he does like to sing. He tends to sing American songs that are upbeat in nature and often chooses the work of Elvis Presley as Tommy considers this legendary Rock'n Roller as one of his idols. He claims to also be influenced by works of the Post Modern Era bands and singers like: O.M.D., Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, and David Bowie. According to Tommy, his source of inspiration comes from his fans. He said, when I see them smile and cheering for me, it makes me want to try even harder to keep them smiling and cheering. There are other musicians in the family as everyone plays one instrument or another.

Tommy's most memorable performance was in England. He recalled, as the M.C. announced my name, I could hear the crowd cheering, whistling, screaming and clapping for me. As I stepped out on stage, I looked to the far back of the auditorium and saw all my fans running down from the bleachers and gathering at the bottom of the stage. Wow, that was excitement! To date, he has recorded 3 CDs in which he sang with Lynda Trang Dai. In his young career, Tommy has found early success in his performance of the song I Love You, a Chinese Ballad he recorded for Thuy Nga Productions. His latest CD, "Tommy Ngo's First Album" is already out, as this article is being posted. The titles includes American songs, Vietnamese and Chinese songs.

Currently, there are many invitations for Tommy to perform throughout the US. However, he still chooses to only perform with his wife Lynda. When asked about their first encounter, Tommy discloses that he met Lynda Trang Dai on the set of a video filmed in Hong Kong in mid 1995. Before this chance encounter, the two have never met, and according to Tommy, he only knew Lynda through her many videos and CDs. The two quickly became an item and tied the knot in 1997 where their wedding was touted as the wedding of that year in the Vietnamese entertainment industry.

Tommy is a shrewd business man with a lot of ambition. Beside performing with his wife and overseeing Lynda Music, their production company, Tommy is also involved in a family computer business. In his spare time he likes to surf the Internet, play tennis and play paintball (action pursuit game). Tommy loves to eat Sushi and lobster. His favorite drink is Dr. Pepper.
