i saw this described as her "midlife crisis" album and i think that description is apt

actually really underrated. all of tori's albums from 2005-14 (except NOH) suffer from having a few naff songs though

It takes time and repeat listenings to fully appreciate the album. She actually knows what she's doing you know.

@yourcrowbar: You lose your interest with songs like Dragon, Code Red, Smokey Joe and Father's Son but love Digital Ghost, You Can Bring Your Dog and Mr. Bad Man? Curious taste you have. At least you like Girl Disappearing.

This album is a lot stronger than I remember it being. She sounds like she's actually trying here. (2) Great album, i love it!

As several people have said before, it's way too long. A 14-track album would be perfect. I adore the first half - all the heavy-sounding songs (Teenage Hustling, Big Wheel, Bouncing off Clouds), plus the gorgeous Digital Ghost, they're brilliant. But after Girl Disappearing I lose my interest... unfortunately. But it still the last album of hers I truly paid attention to.

This one's a grower. I despised it for a year; now I can find something to like about every track, and I really adore quite a few of them (Bouncing Off Clouds, Teenage Hustling, Father's Son, Almost Rosey, Smokey Joe...).

Despite still having a bit of the perennial Tori issues of iffy production (the drums! they're... flabby... and... not gutpunchy on the hard tracks...) and long tracklists that barrel past the one hour mark, this album won me back over after Scarlet and Beekeeper, mostly by bringing back the rock, energy, and variety of material. Hell, put in perspective, ADP makes Scarlet and Beekeeper sound even more annoyingly lethargic.

I wish Tori made more songs like Big Wheel, Bouncing off clouds or Teenage hustling.

I'm thinking i'm in the minority having liked this album right from the first listen :P Sure its not perfect, and it is quite long, but there is very little i'd do to change it. Every album out there has its share of amazing tracks and those which take longer to grow on you, and everything in between (though the tracks that fit into each will vary for each of us of course) and this is no exception. So i'm just gonna accept it for what it is, and carry on listening to it to my heart's content :)
