I just learned that it's not really about her. But I also learned that she was the girl of the keyboard player! Apparently it's sort of half true. It IS named after her but not actually about her. (Silly me, I always assumed she was already famous at the time and the song was a tribute but actually she was unknown then)

It's an open secret that the song is about Rosanna Arquette. Rosanna was on her way to becoming famous at that time. Like you said, she was dating Steve Porcaro at the time. I think Steve Porcaro is offended that Rosanna dumped him. Nonetheless, a great song and Rosanna Arquette is the best.
