Biography

1) Trainwreck - Germany (2005-2015)

Trainwreck (Aachen, Bremen, Göttingen) were a DIY neocrust/screamo band which consisted of current and former members of Eaves, Glasses, The 244GL and Engrave. They started rehearsing in October 2005. Following that they released a couple of records, their final record being an LP in May 2014. They've played five European, one UK, one Japan and two US tours towards the end of their tenure.

Trainwreck's vision of crust was descendant to His Hero Is Gone, something they were never afraid to wear on their sleeves (they even covered the iconic opener 'Like Weeds' on their debut EP) but with a very emotional twist. They mixed crust with the heartfelt expressionism of screamo; as evidenced by their vocals approach, melancholic melodies, desperate and urgent atmosphere and personal lyrics. All these elements made them a neocrust band by definition. They built a balance between heaviness and gloomy sorrow that they used as a tool of creation for both creeping tension and violent release. Simply as emotional as neocrust can get.

The band sadly broke up in 2015 after a decade together and a string of releases.

2) Trainwreck - Los Angeles, California (2002-2010, 2018-present)

Kyle Gass formed Trainwreck in 2002 after Tenacious D bandmate Jack Black had accumulated a busy film schedule. Gass selected JR Reed - who plays 'Lee' in the Tenacious D series - to become the lead singer of the new group. The duo decided to name themselves 'Klip Calhoun' and 'Darryl Donald' - and would focus on producing comedic southern rock music. After around a year of playing, the two decided that they needed a larger band. Gass contacted a friend in Ohio, who suggested friends John Konesky and John Spiker as electric guitarist and bassist respectively - with the two relocating to Los Angeles to work with Trainwreck.

The band would release 'Trainwreck Live' in 2004 - and would feature as the live musical guest on The Jimmy Kimmel Show and Current TV, as well as supporting Reverend Horton Heat and the Supersuckers on tour. In 2006, Trainwreck would provide songs to feature on the score of Tenacious D's 'Pick of Destiny' film. The band released their first studio album in the fall of 2009, 'The Wreckoning' - featuring tracks such as "TV Theme" and Brodeo" - the latter having its own music video. Following a tour of the album, the band split up in late 2010. In 2018, the band would reform and announce the 'Pacific Reunion' tour, as well as work on a forthcoming album.
