Alex Troup cut his teeth as frontman of Brit pop-punks Crashland, playing with the likes of Coldplay and Queens of the Stone Age in the U.K and forging a reputation for incendiary live performances.
After transplanting to the States, the British singer-songwriter met producer and keyboard player Evan Beigel in 2009 while browsing the vinyl bins at Los Angeles institution Amoeba Records. With a shared love of classic 70s rock, analog synths, and Brit pop, they formed Troup and began honing their killer live show at venues around L.A., including the Hotel Café, the Hayworth Theatre, Bar Lubitsch, and the Sunset Marquis.
Troup’s debut album, “Last Chance for Romance,” deftly flows between indie and classic rock, evoking everything from the melancholy of Neil Young to the rock riffs of Kings of Leon. Combining Troup’s searing lyrics and the band’s charged sound, “Last Chance for Romance” is about to stamp an indelible mark on L.A.’s burgeoning indie rock scene and beyond.
