Biography
Twist It is a hard rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, known for blending melodic clean vocals with djent-inspired, heavy instrumentals. The trio, consisting of drummer and founder Sara Higgins, guitarist and producer Logan Smith, and vocalist Kayla Hallman, has quickly emerged in the regional rock scene with a sound that merges modern metal with melodic hooks and energetic performance. Their music draws inspiration from artists like Spiritbox, Flyleaf, and Evanescence, combining emotional depth with high-octane execution. Their name, Twist It, was inspired by Korn's track Twist.
The band was founded by Sara Higgins, who had long envisioned a career in music. While studying at a music school, she met guitarist Logan Smith through a shared program. The two bonded over their musical goals and eventually decided to form an original band. The early phase of Twist It involved several lineup changes, but it wasn’t until October 2023 that they found their final form. During a local live show, Higgins and Smith saw vocalist Kayla Hallman performing with another band and instantly recognized her potential. After some initial hesitation on Hallman’s part, she joined the project, completing the trio and setting the stage for the band’s next phase.
Shortly after solidifying the lineup, Twist It traveled to Nashville to record their debut EP, Breathe, a five-song collection that showcases their range. Produced with the help of Kile O’Dell, the EP became the band’s launching pad into more prominent live opportunities. Since then, Twist It has performed at notable venues across the Northeastern United States. They have opened for acts such as Hed P.E., Taproot, The Millionaires, and Holy Mother.
