I dig the new stuff. An album you can really get high to and drive around to or walk your dog.

новый альбом звучит так, как должен звучать саундтрек к идеальной и довольно беззаботной жизни. давненько не слышал ничего настолько охуенного. просто пиздец какие приятные ребята, не разочаровывают.

What's everyone make of V so far? I've been a little surprised to see such lukewarm reviews on it. I think it's slick as hell, with hooks that are only getting better and better with each revisit. I wasn't really floored by the singles after giving them a cursory listen about a month ago, but as a full-album experience I think the whole thing works really well. A common critique seems to be that the record is "shallow" or works better as "background music"... and to that I'll just say that, yup – UMO ain't that deep™. Never have been, probably never will be. For me, V channels the slack energy I've come to know and love when I reach for an UMO record. It IS music for kicking back. The "hazy" production feels right at place, and I think some of those danceable detours buttery smooth instrumental moments keep things varied. We'll see how it holds up, but for the time being I'm pretty impressed with its consistency... even if that may not be the popular opinion at the moment.

Well, I don't know how long you've been listening to UMO - how much you can compare V to their previous albums. I discovered him/them in 2014, 3 years after "that bandcamp UMO craze started" and was amazed by FFuny Friends and all the other tracks. To me Multilove is still an amazing album and Sex+Food is flawless from start to end, bursting with interesting ideas, with amazing Ruban guitar, Kody perfect drumming and Jake's melodic basslines - I gave both a listen today. SB-10 gave me hope that the new album would be better than I expected, even awesome, because the songs that appeared during the pandemic were so-so. Weekend Run was quite nice but That Life...just boring compared to what they did before. But when I played "V" I realized my mistake. SB-10, as awesome as it is, does not contain V demos. Just like SB-05 did contain Sex+Food demoes/ideas. So, for the time being, for my private use, I treat SB-10 as my proper UMO album - as blasphemous as it may sound to hardcore UMO fans.

I liked the singles when they came out, the album was good but nothing to rave about. But now I find myself revisiting the album. I love the lyrics and the music is just so sublime?

am I crazy or didn't "Ffuny Ffriends" used to be called "Ffunny Ffrends"? Even the wiki description has it as the latter, pretty sure the og p4k post about also has it that way
