Biography
Originally formed on an informal basis as “The Dots” the band have evolved through the addition of two new members to become the solid 5-piece “Vasco Junior.” They describe themselves as a hard working, no nonsense indie rock band. Musically the band has been described as “peddling urgent rock stomps alongside pleasant pop swoons and the odd devilish groove.” With songs that concern politics, love, history, vodka and revenge coupled with the toe tapping and infectious tunes, the current set can almost be described as “tall tales and lies.” Having gigged substantially around Dublin City to an ever-increasing audience of enthusiastic supporters, ”Vasco Junior’s” appeal and talent has not gone unnoticed amongst the music industry establishment. The band have already earned the title “Pick of the fortnight” from Jackie Hayden in his “Garageland” column in Hot Press, “Demo of the week” on Phantom FM’s Icon Show with Aidan Lynch and the track “Fall” has won the “Best Song” category of the Murphy’s Live 2008 competition not to mention being one of Vasco juniors two top 40 singles this year. These accolades have been further supported by live performances on FM104’s Open Mic with Ruairi Carroll, “That’s Entertainment” on Dublin CityFM103.2, Access All Areas with Edel Caffery on Phantom FM, while also receiving regular air play on Spin FM, FM104, Dublin City 103.2FM,Phantom, 95Limerick, Beat FM, KFM. On an international perspective the band have also received airplay on radio stations in Liverpool, Manchester and L.A.
