Biography
Vasvija Dželatović is a serbian singer born 1958 in Mali Zvornik. She began her career in 1987 with Zoran Starčević's band with the album 'Kako ću sama' (What am I to do alone). From this album songs 'Kako ću sama', 'Zašto ljubav mora da se krije' (Why love has to be hidden) and 'Odlazim sutra' (I'm leaving tomorrow) stood out. On her next three albums from 1988, 1989 and 1990 popular sings were 'Bez tebe je život kazna' (Without you life is a punishment), 'Proklet bio ti' (Be cursed), 'Neću niko da me žali' (I want no one to pity me), 'Ja sam te uvek volela' (I always loved you), a duet with Dragan Kojić Keba and 'Neću da se rastanemo' (I don't want us to part).
During the nineties Vasvija's popularity grew bigger than during the eighties. Songs from her 1991's album 'Ko to ruši moje snove' (Who is destroying my dreams) withz its titular song became a hit and 'Kada umre ljubav' (When love dies) became a hit when Sinan Sakić sang it in 1992. She continued recording albums regularly until 1997 when she made a 5 year hiatus and recorded her album 'Pobednica' (Winner). This album didn't achieve much success. After this, she stopped recording and retired from the public scene.
