Vermilion Sands was a japanese prog-rock band that was most active between 1987-1999. Their melodic, romantic style of prog-rock reached its high point with the 1989 album Water Blue (re-released in 1999 with 3 bonus tracks).
Their music was influenced by such groups as Renaissance, Camel and Fairport Convention. Their vocalist Youko Rouyama died in 2004 taking with her the pillar stone of the group.

The band was known throughout the entire world as one of the most outstanding symphonic rock bands ever to emerge from the land of the rising sun. This five-piece band (female vocals, guitar, keyboards & drums) plays an elegant music. Fresh female vocals, delicate keyboards chords & the beauty of the melodies are evoking the best of what RENAISSANCE could have done. The very melodic music can be named in the same breath as that of Camel. The reissue includes several bonus-tracks.
