Veronika Fischer, born 28. July 1951 in Wölfis, Thuringia, German Democratic Republic) is a German Singer.
In 1968 Veronika Fischer began to study music at the Dresden Music College Carl Maria von Weber. While studying she performed with a variation of bands, such as the Fred-Herfter-Combo and the Stern-Combo Meissen.
Her first album was released in 1972 with the band Panta Rhei, members of which later founded the band Karat, one of East Germany's most famous musical exports.
In the same year Veronika passed the exam for her studies as soloist for chanson and musical.
A year later she founded her own band: Veronika Fischer & Band.
Her first solo album was released in 1975 and during the following years she became one of the most successful singers of the former East Germany
At the end of the 1970s she contributed towards two children's albums (Geschichtenlieder 1978 and Der Traumzauberbaum 1980).
After a gig in West Berlin in 1981 Veronika Fischer didn't return to East Berlin and stayed in the Federal Republic of Germany. Here she released her next albums and could also establish herself as a musician in the rest of what would later become Germany.
