Biography
Vibeke Stene (pronounced VEE-beh-kuh*), born August 17, 1978, is a Norwegian Spinto soprano. She was the lead female vocalist of the gothic metal band Tristania from 1996 to 2007. In 2013 she began an as yet untitled doom metal project, and as of 2015 is continuing to write and record her project's first album. She is also participating in Asgeir Mickelson's extreme metal project, God of Atheists.
Vibeke joined Tristania shortly before they started recording their self-titled demo. At first she was meant to be only a guest singer, but later on she joined the band officially. Her distinctive vocals became well known to fans of gothic metal, mostly throughout Europe.
On February 27, 2007, Vibeke left Tristania. Possible reasons, based on two facts from her life, are:
- She wanted to pursue her long held dream of becoming a singing teacher.
- She was expecting her first child in fall 2006, and in late summer 2007 gave birth to a son, Gylve. (A daughter followed a few years later.)
Vibeke featured on electro/pop band Plutho's album entitled Bob, You Don't Wanna Go There, which was released April 15th, 2011. She sung on their song Queen Of Broken Hearts, which was recorded back in 1999.
