Biography
Vinyl Sun - An indie powerpop band originally formed in Vancouver, Canada.
Indie Alt/Rock/PowerPop/Retro/Electro Pop/DooWop
Vinyl Sun started together on the Vancouver club scene before recording their debut album at Yaletown Studio in Vancouver, Canada.
Vinyl Sun were also co-owners in partnership with Al Vermue and Mark LeCorre at Yaletown Sound Studios.
The album was meticulously recorded and edited over a period of 9 months when studio time was available and over several blocked out sessions.
"Our first album was a concept album.
The concept; We thought we would start with a Greatest Hits album.
In theory, this meant making an album that sounded like it was spanning a decade of album releases.
The result, a deliriously eclectic debut album driven by an unsatiable desire to knock every track out of the ballpark with reckless melodic abandon."
'Erotic Shock' was an inclusion on the album from a rare five song Ep that Vinyl Sun had released locally in Vancouver, Canada that received strong local radio support upon release.
The Ep was released under the name 'The Love Cats', which was the name the band had been using locally over the previous 3 years.
With the completion of the bands first full length Cd, the band formally changed their name to 'Vinyl Sun'.
Vinyl Sun ventured to take a unique path into the music industry after an opportunity to tour and perform in S.E. Asia provided the incentive to introduce their album into foreign markets in Asia before introducing it into their own home markets of Canada and US.
A second album was recorded with a record company in Bangkok, Thailand to take advantage of the exposure that had been created for the band with the release of a tailor made single for the Thai market.
Tracks from this second album are a much sought after addition for Vinyl Sun fans. Some tracks from those sessions have surfaced on the net.
The album track 'Angel' from their first album 'Life Inside Lucy' created a strong grass roots following that has lifted the track into a form of notoriety in many internet circles for its often found mislabeling as a 'Nine Inch Nails' song.
Although this had helped in gaining exposure for Vinyl Sun and their unique sound, it has also created an identity crisis for a band that has seen a rise in popularity for a track that has been credited to a different artist.
