Weichafe is a hard rock band from Santiago, Chile. The band started in 1996 with the initial formation of Angelo Pierattini on guitar and vocals, Marcelo da Venezia on bass and Tata Bigorra on drums. In mapudungún, the language spoken by the native Mapuche people of Chile, weichafe is the word for "warrior".
The band released five albums between 1999 and 2007, touring many cities all over the Chilean territory. They have also played in Argentina, sharing the stage with bands like La Renga and Carajo. In 2008 Weichafe announced they would be splitting up and toured all over the country, oficially ceasing operations on april 30, 2009, after their last show.
Five years later, Weichafe announced they would be coming back to the stages. In between 2014 and 2015, the band member reunited and played some gigs, releasing an EP as a first step. Ever since, the band has remained an importante figure in the Chilean hard rock scene.
