William Gold, famously known as Wilbur Soot, is an English musician and lead vocalist for the indie rock band "Lovejoy". He was born on September 14th, 1996. He's also a Twitch streamer and youtuber, being a former member of the group channel "SootHouse" and creating the mysterious Editor Wilbur ARG.
He started his music career doing comedy songs in 2018. In 2019, he released a 13 minute EP, with four songs, called "Maybe I Was Boring". One of the songs from this project was later sampled on his band's second EP. His first oficial project, "Your City Gave Me Asthma", was released in music plataforms on June 25th, 2020, with some well-known songs like "Jubilee Line" and "Your Sister Was Right". He also released a few parody songs in 2020, with "Your New Boyfriend" being the most successful one. Wilbur first charted on Spotify and in the UK Singles Chart with YNB, at #183 and #83 respectively. "Your New Boyfriend" debuted at #2 on the Spotify Viral 50 chart and sold over 500,000 units in the US. His final parody, "Soft Boy", was released on September 26th, 2022, as a tribute to his fans.
Wilbur's music takes influence on artists like "Los Campesinos", his favourite band, "Crywank", "Arctic Monkeys" and other Indie Rock bands.
Nowadays (2023), Wilbur's main focus is Lovejoy, being the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. Lovejoy's debut EP "Are You Alright?" was released on May 8th, 2021 with 4 songs. It reached #1 on the US iTunes and every song debuted on the Spotify's Viral 50 chart. The EP sold over 100,000 units in the US. Their second EP, "Pebble Brain", with now 7 songs, was released on October 14th, 2021. It debuted at #128 on Billboard's 200, being their first appearance on the charts. Like AYA?, the EP also sold over 100,000 units in the US and debuted at #1 on ITunes US. Their latest release was the single "Normal People Things". Their 3rd EP is called "Wake Up and It's Over" and was released on May 12th, 2023.
