A spectacular debut from one of the great groups of the 80s American underground scene, with very strong production that gives these songs a tough, full and heavy sound that really flatters them and makes them even more pleasing to listen to than they would be with the lo-fi, flat production that was standard for independent Punk acts of the time. I would say that Greg Sage has not quite reached the heights with his songwriting that he would achieve on Youth of America and Over the Edge (both perfect albums infused with the advances of Post-Punk music but presented in the context of Punk), but it's really only a matter of a few degrees; this is absolutely phenomenal Punk from writing to execution to presentation, and the fact that the next couple of records are even better only speaks to how amazing a talent Greg Sage is and how great a band the Wipers were rather than being any kind of real dig at this LP. Essential.
