Biography

Award winning punk jazz innovators WorldService Project (WSP) are erupting across the UK this autumn and winter with a series of dates promoting new materail ahead of their second album in 2012.

The London based unit have been described by Time Out as having “big things (lying) ahead for them” and were also dubbed as “brilliant post-prog funk” (Jazzwise Magazine), a “tour de force” (York Press) and “really enjoyable top quality jazz” (Organ Art Magazine).

WSP’s intense live sound has taken 2011 by storm, with dates in Paris, London, Oslo, Lyon, Bergen and Trondheim, as well as Brecon and Swanage Jazz Festivals.

Led by pianist/composer Dave Morecroft, WSP’s music speaks through dark, intense building passages, winding through dissonance, complex rhythmic manipulation and extreme dynamics. Other times it draws on the language of 20th Century Classical composers layered over biosterous grooves more commonly found in albums by heavy rock artists.

The result is high-octane experimental, but accessible music with a smile upon its face.

Dave Morecroft - Keys

Tim Ower - Saxes

Raphael Clarkson - Trombone

Conor Chaplin - Bass
