I'm probably going to get shit for this but Voices is objectively the superior album. Both have their appeal but Voices is where the bands sound really matured and became uniquely Wormrot. Dirge is a great Grindcore album don't get me wrong, but there's nothing that makes it unique compared to a great Grindcore ablum made by literally any other band.

Western Europe always gets the good shit. I have to assume it's because the population density makes touring even behind niche genres more financially doable.

I dunno, I still probably like Abuse the most, but I love the hardcore hooks they started throwing in on hiss.

If you complain about gatekeeping, then the chances are that you are a grifting hipster that should be gatekept.

I already had infinite respect for this guys based in their previous discography. But "Hiss" surprised me in a way that is hard to describe. What a solid piece of work, with such a unique sound, I find it difficult to keep "labeling" Wormrot just as a grindcore band, it is remarkable the amount of influences they have from different subgenres both inside and outside of metal. 10/10 band, 10/10 album

Gabriel is a good vocalist yes! He doesn't have nearly the same stage presence as Arif but otherwise he's about as close as you can

Very happy to find this band. Definitely, I can insert Wormrot among the best grindcore bands of the century. What a huge surprise. Yet, it is not that difficult to find the whole discography around (yes, I still buy CDs)... BTW, I wonder why Arif has left the band just after one masterpiece named Hiss... 🤔

"We’ve been going through a lot of personal hardships and it’s taken a toll on our mental health and well-being. This is for the best. There are many other factors that are just too personal to share. Certain issues have become priorities that we just can’t avoid. It’s going to take us some time to recover. It was a difficult decision but our family is our priority and we do not wish to hold the band back."

That was Biquette, who was rescued from a dairy factory and spent the rest of her life on a farm in France where the owner hosted concerts, and Biquette would come and listen, eat cigarette butts and generally chill with the crowd. She died about 10 years ago.

Voices left me blank but holy shit HISS is serious business. Only Pig Destroyer back in the 00s, Insect Warfare and Deathtoll 80K had the rights to produce riffs like theses.
