I was pretty disappointed in Wolf Hex considering how great Heaven That Dwells Within was, but I'll take an average album over no album at all. There were definitely some good spots on it, at least.

Wolf Hex left a lot to be desired... 33 minutes and 47 seconds passed so quickly with such a great album, I really wanted it to keep going when it was over! There genuinely was never a dull moment with this record, and that's something I can definitely say has become a defining feature for this band: they really keep you on your toes. They keep things diverse and interesting, and leave you guessing what is going to come next, and I like that a lot about these guys. I feel like the best is truly yet to come with Wormwitch, which is exciting, because they've already produced some banger albums.

I felt like I was 2 different people, in the long run. It hit hard at the start, and now I think it was rather dull by comparison to their previous. Wolves of Ossory was probably my favorite song from last year though, so I'll give them that. With each listen, I got more and more bored.

Wolf Hex is definitely worth the wait. I usually hate listening to singles that can spoil in advance the experience of a whole album, so I waited till today and I gotta tell that I'm glad I did it, what a great surprise.

2019 record is fine but for fucks sake this is just plain metal, not even close to having actual crust influences....

it got some elements neocrusties also use, but those are the metal parts of neocrust :D alpinist for example is much more hardcore/crust with REAL anger in their sound.

yeah, i see where you are coming from. i always liked some crust, some punk in my metal, but i've always been on the crust-influenced side of metal, not the metal-influenced side of crust i guess. i like to think adding some crust influences takes away a bit of the neckbeard energy that metal so often has. weirdly specific thoughts, now that i read them again.

How does no one know these guys??!! Strike Mortal Soil is a fucking rager. Somehow some press seems to think it's "atmospheric black metal in the vein of Deafheaven and such, with soaring clean vocals" or some shit like that, but it's great crusty black metal with rock and roll influences, with singing on like, one song.. maybe two lol.

just discovered this band earlier in 2018. Great musicians but their label support is shit. They are signed to Prosthetic Records but I can't find their music anywhere, so not sure why they aren't getting the same distribution as other artists on their label. Had to order Strike Mortal Soil straight from the band,
