Definitely one of the best bands i've listened in my life. So glad that i discovered them, not just the music is PERFECT, but the whole world, story and characters. I see the band and the albums as a whole instead of just picking my favorite album or song, it's a rare thing to happen, but when a band makes it so consistent, with a great pacing, a single narrative going on, this is art in a lot of ways, you can feel that they care and love what they're doing, and receiving almost nothing financially in return. Yeah i know it's funny to say "This is, in fact, the gayest shite I've ever heard", because i love to joke with it too (but some people use this to make fun about well written and produced things insinuating as a bad thing), but seriously, now i can only hope for them to reunite someday and release another album, and even if it never happens, i'm happy that these three albums and the EP exists, will be forever one of my favorite projects and a thing that i will talk about with joy

O, my Brother, what have you done? What have you and I become? Can you count the links, one by one? Of the chain that you've begun Chains of hate for each man you've wronged Chains that hold forever strong They will follow you where you go As their weight forever grows

I discovered this band about a week ago and they have been the most unhealthy obsession for me since i discovered Opeth back in 2005. When i say obsessed. They were all i would listen to non stop and i ended up learning a lot of their songs on guitar and using a lot of Opeth inspired riffs back when i was playing with a local band. I now have Xanthochroid albums looping in the background no stop while working and i cant concentrate because im completely mesmerised by the music haha.

Is there any way to request a fix for the albums listed on this page? It doesn't show Of Erthe and Axen: Act 1. Only Act 2.

Absolutely! Some of the most epic metal I've ever heard, both parts! Everything comes together so perfectly.

Damn I always feel reminded of Ihsahns screams when I listen to Xanthochroids harsher vocals. I really like the second part of this saga more than the first one.

Ihsahn has such a distinctive voice that it surprised me how similar Xanthochroid's harsh vocals are. Good stuff.

New favorite band. Everything they've done is great, but the new albums in particular really blew me away. Especially after I read about the lore and paid more attention to the storytelling, which fits perfectly with the music.

The Spotify rips of Act 1 and 2 don't include the commas in 4 tracks. I'm triggered by the top tracks because of this.

I'm the top listener for Xanthochroid now. I may or may definitely have a problem...

Their more metal oriented songs would still benefit from having higher dynamic range, that'll kinda inhibit my ability to focus on them (and thus make them less memorable.) That said, this is still infinitely easier on the ears than Blessed He With Boils.

They fixed the issue on Blessed He With Boils where the bass kicks would just fuck up the guitar riffs whenever the double bass came in. That basically assures that I'm buying these, since that was what kept me from listening to them much. This new production style is actually pretty brilliant, since it has a mix of rawness and polish to make both the orchestral side and black metal side work. Really glad to hear them fix the bass kick issue! On the music side, so far this sounds like what you'd expect from 'em: sweeping, epic black metal with strong orchestral elements, but in every way it feels slightly better than Blessed He With Boils. Can't wait to hear Act II with this new production style!

Oh, it will be more metal for sure. Xanthochroid has mentioned Act 2 is more metal on their Facebook and there has been talk about it by the band members in the Facebook fan group I made(Xanthochroid Fans).

Does anyone have a good download link for their Land of Snow and Sorrow cover? It's expired on the video description and it's an amazing cover!
