XDreamysts were a Northern Irish band from Coleraine. Initially formed as a country-rock band called Flying Squad, the band switched gears in 1977 with the arrival of punk rock and changed their name to XDreamysts and began playing punk-inspired music. Their first single, 1978's "Right Way Home" caught the attention of Polydor Records and they were signed almost simultaneously with fellow Northen Irish punkers Protex in 1979. Lead by lead singer and rhythm guitarist Uel Walls, the band released three singles for Polydor, but the company refused to release the band's debut album in the UK. It was, however, later released in Belgium in 1980. The band quickly faded from the music scene after Polydore abruptly ended their record contract.

XDreamysts bass guitarist Roe Butcher would go on to join the outfit The Mighty Shamrocks.
