Biography

Yves Teicher (b. 21 March 1962 in Liège; † 11 April 2022) was a Belgian violinist who excelled in both classical music and jazz.
Teicher received a classical music education from the age of seven at the conservatory in his native city. Building on the solfeggio, he learned the violin; he received a First Prize in both subjects (1976 and 1978/79 respectively). He graduated in 1981 with First Prize in Chamber Music, then took private lessons with Ivry Gitlis.

After a period of retreat, he went to France, where he was active with the Trio Chorda. His interpretation of Alfred Schnittke's 1st Symphony with the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest was considered a special event in the Netherlands in 1993 and was also broadcast on television. In the following years he developed solo programmes which he presented. He also began to accompany chanson singers such as Florent Pagny, Serge Faubert, Maurane, Jacky Evrard, Christiane Stefanski and Patrick Husson. He was also featured on albums by Philippe Anciaux and Selima Al Khalaf.
