Biography
Zambezi Drive is an Indie-Rock band from Utrecht, the Netherlands. The band has just released their second EP, entitled “7 Is A Number”.
The band was formed in 2006 by Jelmer, Piet and Maarten. A few months later, Tijmen joined the boys after several harsh but successful auditions. They started writing pop songs which are just a bit off. This resulted in some pretty nifty tunes, some of which were released on their first EP “Park” in 2008. Based on “Park” the band landed quite a number of gigs, performing in different band contests, live radio shows and band showcase nights. The band was also featured as editor’s pick on ongekendtalent.nl and nextbestband.nl. Finally, the song “Office men” was used in the soundtrack of the documentary “In between – nine takes from the European scene”.
Now, they’re taking it to the next level, incorporating more instruments, sounds and influences in their songs. Their music has evolved to a more experimental state. Paraphrasing one of music’s greats: “Travelling on the middle of the road soon became a bore, so we headed for the ditch”.
