Zuckerbaby is a rock band based in Alberta, Canada, that gained moderate national attention in the late 1990s. The group originated from the Calgary-based groove band Calliope. Known for incorporating power pop influences into their music, Zuckerbaby was particularly noted for the distinctive lead guitar work of Reed Shimozawa, who had previously been a member of the Calgary hair metal band Smash L.A.
The band's self-titled debut album featured the singles "Andromeda," "Heavy," and "Shampoo," which received airplay across Canadian radio stations. In 2000, Zuckerbaby released their second album, "Platinum Again," which included the singles "Overexposure" and "Holiday." Despite the release, the band faced a setback when they were dropped by their label following the reorganization of Mercury Records under Universal Music.
On August 28, 2015, Zuckerbaby reunited for a one-time live performance. The show featured original members Andy Eichorn and Reed Shimozawa, who were joined by two Calgary-based musicians. The performance took place at the Marquee Beer Market and Stage, where they opened for the headlining band Age of Electric.
