Zwarte Poëzie is the ongoing band project of singer/songwriter Edwin van der Velde, a Dutchman currently living in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Zwarte Poëzie's music can be described as new wave or alternative rock, influenced mainly by British bands, though uniquely brought with neo-romantic Dutch lyrics.
In their early days the band released a couple of demo's before producing their first succesfull cd, the EP 'Grijs Verleden' in 2007. After the release the band performed across The Netherlands and even did a small European tour in Berlin and Warsaw. In 2009 Zwarte Poëzie has been working fulltime on their first full length album 'Liefde'. In late 2012 Zwarte Poëzie recorded some Neue Deutsche Welle covers with Dutch lyrics, in december the video for 'Het Model' (Das Model by Kraftwerk) was released.
