Arkansas melodic metal act AFFECTUS are featured in a new book series on heavy metal and hard rock. The band’s debut record, ‘Anathema’, is reviewed by Maximum Metal senior editor Eric Compton and includes commentary from the band’s singer and songwriter John Warren. An extremely candid four page interview with Warren is also included with details regarding the album’s concept and design and the heartfelt experiences that went into the writing.
“It remains to be the deepest and most personal story of our lives put into print. Even though so much has happened with the band and the members within, that album remains a chronicle of our past, and those of us originals left in the band are striving forward”, explains Warren. “The truth is, ‘Anathema’ is a rock opera that took 6 years to conceptualize and recording the album took 4 months of 12 hour days, 6 days a week.”
