“Chondro”, as this track was originally named on setlists, is a song that black midi began to perform while touring in 2019. The track appeared on Marc Riley’s BBC Radio 6 show, Radio 6 Festival 2020 and various fan recordings before it was announced that it would be released as part of the band’s second album "Cavalcade".
Chrondromalacia patella (also known as patellofemoral syndrome) is the most common cause of chronic knee pain. It’s caused by an abnormal softening of tissue under the patella (“kneecap”) which makes it scrape against the femur (thigh bone).
