Straight outta tha fonky underground comes the booty-shakin' carpenter of sound, the one and only handieMan maurice! Maurice has hella experience in the realms of beats and bass, being a bass/guitar master first and producer/remixer second, each coalescing in a swirl of funky psychedelic rhythms and dark electronic atmospheres. After playing in the dance-live circuit for 15 years with his funkband Burning, handieMan maurice started to produce instrumental hiphop beats in 1990. Through years of experience with funk & industrial music, handieMan's music has evolved into a sound that is a groundbreaking variation of rhythm, speed and sphere. Da handieMan works with dutch finest musicians as it is Hans Dulfer , E.Motion vocalist Robenzo and rapper Brainpower, a lot of musician and co-producers come and go to his modest studio in the center of the lowlands.
After the Trippatrazz release of handieMan mauriceís special triphop project Trip to Agewood (featuring rapper Brainpower and trumpetplayer Gerald van Dijk), 200 copies were send to Brittain and the United States. in England the 12" was charged as "Continental Single of the Week" in the cool music magazine NME, "Excelent busted out trip and hiphop from those krazee Dutch guys that take as much from The Chemical Brothers as it does from KRS-One". From the states we recieved a fax from a well known respected Frisco DJ and producer Gavin Hardkiss, who catched the record somewhere between Satalite, Atlanta and New York, this is what he wrote: "Trippatrazz/Trip to Agewood is the shit . . . .. it's the first thing i got from y'all . . sick sticky solidbeats with the words that make me go . . . . ahhhh . . . is there more? . . . how do i get some? . . . who is this TT???. . . ." Gavin.
My labeler, Hans Koppenol, wrote down on the copy of the fax; "How unknown can the messenger be, while still loved by so many??" We put all the handieMan tracks on cassettes and send them over to Sunburn Recordings in California and guess what . . . , they loved it :) The e-mail relationship came to fruition after a flurried exchange of music.
