Biography

Intuitive music for intuitive minds - forever inspired by the ecstasies of life.

Mofforium is a multi-instrumentalist musician from the Netherlands, creating various kinds of guitar-driven music. His styles of preference sit somewhere between progressive-alternative rock, psychedelic rock, and something that can best be described as an almost folk-y, ethereal flavor of acoustic music, not within any particular genre.

Completely self-taught in most of his musical skills, his interest for writing his own riffs started early in life, after spending some time learning both guitar and bass as a child. He quickly dedicated himself to the latter after being gifted an instrument of his own - and after learning a few songs, he arranged a few quick melodies inspired primarily by the calmer music of Tool.

Some time later his instrument of preference switched to guitar, after receiving an electric guitar as a handmedown at age 12. This lead to different songwriting choices, a greater variety of chords, and different possibilities – which, alongside his newfound interest in writing his own vocals, eventually lead him to start writing music with arrangements for both guitar and voice. These were then uploaded to YouTube, where he slowly attracted an audience, and the rest is history.

His influences vary in practice. Notable names like the aforementioned Tool, Rishloo, Karnivool and Cire come to mind first, but even the likes of Emptyself, Intisaar, Ben Howard, Varliiba, Jon Hopkins, and Black Light Burns can be picked up in the minutias of his music, whether in guitar tones, musical tension, melodic choices or vocal tendencies.

He is also me, and I am him.
