Biography
Coming at ya live from somewhere it's:Slick MANTRA! Hailing from Philadelphia, Slick Mantra is an experimental hip hop group that is bent on the evolution of the genre and stripping music back down its raw, emotional roots that inspire feeling and thought. Mantra also believes in the importance of the live show and that hip hop has lost its excitement onstage in the midst of shallow, hollow performers. Heavily influenced by jazz, soul, and pop music, Mantra's approach to music is exploratory, developing a new form of hip hop idealism that is both original and refreshing. The band was first birthed between songwriter Andy Smalls and MC Tyrell Hoxter as a new project, but soon grew to a larger, bigger sound when they collaborated with singer/horn player Reid Kelley, bass player Bobby Brumbaugh, and drummer Kyle Wintermantel. The band's deep appreciation for music and songwriting is deeply rooted and balanced by a strong bond of friendship and musicianship that is evident in their energy onstage. The band is booking right now for a summer tour along the East Coast, so any inquiries please contact James Sennett at: slickmantra@gmail.com
