Biography
Growing up in South Florida listening to everything from Miami club music to punk rock, it makes sense that John “somejerk” Gregory would find himself in the middle of the Miami Bass Music Renaissance, becoming one of the most in demand electronic music producers in the state of Florida. Winning the Miami New Times “Best New Electronica Artist″ in 2010 was just the beginning of recognition from press, peers & dance floors alike.
A graduate of performing arts schools, the son of a drummer & a painter, music has always been the main passion for somejerk, often noting it as “the only thing that makes sense”. As one of the originators of the Miami dubstep movement, somejerk now focuses his energy on pushing all sounds bass heavy music, with sets snaking through dubstep, drum and bass & moombahton styles cohesively, moving dance floors from Austin, Houston, New York, Worcester, Los Angeles to every major city in Florida in the 5 years he’s been DJing.
In 2011 somejerk began teaching Audio Production at the Scratch Academy in Miami & has pending releases via Dubporn Recordings & his own PatternAwareness imprint, waiting to be adding to his list of releases via Insectmind, Filthy Digital & Code Of Arms.
