Biography
The band "The Chaynes" was a '60s garage band from San Antonio, Texas. What I am going to put on here is very sketchy as I was maybe 12 to 14 y.o.a. when they were popular. I have spoken to some of my friends who remember them and we have come up with the following. As best as we can remember…I remember them being kinda "hoods" or greasers… You know, hair greased back, they wore t shirts with the sleeves rolled up, blue jeans, looked like the "Harley, southsider" type. Thus, the name "Chaynes" or chains. They were older guys than most of the bands we watched back then. They were already out of hi school (I think) I think they came from Harlandale High School or that "Southside" area. For those that don't know, the southside of San Antonio (at that time) was a rough area. Still is. Some of my friends think the band members names may have been Dale Watson, Galon Miles and Wayne…Caustafuson or Gustafson (not sure on this.) Not sure about any of this. Wayne played a Gibson ES 35. They had a hit with an instrumental. We think the name of it was either "Live with the Moon" or "Live for the Moon" One person said it was "Nighttime" Or The Nighttime is the Right Time." I remember it being "Live for the Moon" I saw them at "Teen Town" I had a friend who saw the at the "Chinses Sunken Gardens" in San Antonio.
My source is a friend who played in local bands back then (and still does) and his dad owned TEEN TOWN. My brother also played in that same band. They had Fender Strats. That band was the "Aggressors." I dont think they ever recorded anything. That's another story.
