Biography
The Flaming Moes is a indie/pop/rock band from Skara, Sweden.
The original Moes constellation got together for the first time in late spring 2002 to perform at a local event in Skara. The rehearsals were sporadic and were executed the day before the actual performance, but since it was far from being the first time the band-members had played together the show went on without any major problems. The first set-list included mostly low tempo, country influenced songs. Only one of them, "Loveletters", made it to the first e.p. recording sessions a little than a year later.
Recording the "Moving to Mexico"-e.p. the band staked out its internal roles, but drummer PeA Uvesten, guitarist Erik Nyberg, pianist Andreas Wendelholt, bass player Kristoffer Järleby and vocalist Mattias Wånelid all made other contributions to the first record than that of their main instruments. The record got quite some radio time for being a demo product, and eventually generated a record contract with newly started Swedish record company AKIVAB. A thought surrounding the planning of the record was to have as many band members as possible sing. That affected the first gig after the recordings heavily, Erik and Mattias sharing the lead vocals and Andreas backing them with his sometimes laid back and sometimes funky voice.
Only a few live shows and months later PeA decided to call it quits, and after testing a couple of other drummers, Kristoffers brother Petter Järleby joined in to fill out the missing spot behind the drums. The band did a bunch of shows in the spring of 2004, and at the same time started recording their first album, at Studio Kvarnen in Vara. The album featured 12 songs, 10 of which were written for the album. The remaining two were to be new recordings of tracks from the previous e.p. namely minor radio hit "Hard to Get" and live favourite, harmonica bulging country tune "Donkey". The album, entitled "The Ride" (featuring a rollercoaster on the cover), went on sale in mid summer of 2004, and was celebrated by a well appreciated release gig in band home town Skara.
The band recently released a new album entitled "We'll Never Forget Where Our Hearts Lie - Love, The Flaming Moes".
