Biography
Larry and Rebecca started the band in Sofia, Bulgaria in June 2000. Over the next few years, they were joined by some good friends who shared their lack of enthusiasm for the so-called music business. Songs were conceived, rehearsed, and then discarded as "too prog rock". Venues were besieged, attacked, abused, and abandoned.
The Band:
- Vessie Paperback (Joined early 2004) played the drums
- Monty Paperback (Joined autumn 2003) played the guitar and the keyboards
- Larry Paperback (Co-founded the band in y2k) played the guitar and shouted some of the vocals
- Rebecca Paperback (Co-founded the band in y2k) played the bass and sang the rest of the vocal parts
- Berko (Joined around Christmas 2007) played the guitar
- Yavor (Joined early on) played the guitar and wrote some of the music
- Zomba (Joined early on) banged the drums for a while, then had to be "hospitalised for approaching perfection", to quote another artist's lyric
- Stefan (on loan from The Scroletics) played the drums when Zomba was unavailable
Worth more than a mention was the band's massive friend and collaborator Maxim Mokdad (currently spreading the magic with OOHS!)
In 2003 they self-released Ten Demo Trax, a CD-R which sold at gigs until the bitter end. Their first official release, Mondegreen EP, was scheduled for release in 2007 through the band's own label First Time Out Records. On March 26 2007, First Time Out uploaded a teaser on Last.fm: 'Natural Born Heroes', one of the five songs on the EP. To quote another artist, however, life was what happened while they were busy making other plans: by April 2008 band and label were both history; the EP remains unreleased to this day.
the paperbax have since scattered all over Europe. Once in a blue moon Larry records and uploads stuff under a new moniker, European Space Agency.
