Biography

the side. is an uniquely styled alternative rock band that hail from the music scene of Charlotte, North Carolina. "Sh*t Storm" was the last album the band made before deciding on a (temporary?) hiatus in 2014; after performing and recording together for well over a decade. The band picked up a good bit of steam in the Carolinas and the South-East by rigorous traveling, performing, and recording. Discography includes: "So Shines A Good Deed In A Weary World (2003), " "Whatchudoin'wit'at'nake? (2005)," "Smothered & Covered" (double cover album) (2008), and Sh*t Storm (2012)." Arse-tex recorded a solo album entitled "We Are the Music Makers and We Are the Dreamers of Dreams" (2000). The band consists of a three piece (guitar/vocals, drums, bass), and often incorporated guest musicians during live performances. The band is on the independent record label "Box of Awfulness," founded by the side.'s front man and songwriter arse-tex, who is currently writing and recording songs for an upcoming project. The project will involve the side.'s other founding member, drummer benje fuzzle; long time musical collaborator with arse-tex. Before the side., the two were in a band called "box of awfulness". There are also plans on rerecording and mastering some of the side.'s earlier albums.
the side. played with intense sincerity, energy, and emotion; putting on memorable performances, often incorporating comical banter between the group and audience. The band was also known (especially in their earlier days) for dressing in bizarre and at times seemingly random attire in order to "make fun of people who play music in order to pretend to be rock stars and have their asses kissed."
The band initially sought out to help build Charlotte's music scene by trying to foster a sense of community between bands; often setting up shows with several groups (of various varieties) on the bill, and expressed this notion of community support during interviews. The band claim to have had difficulty at times with the changing musical trends in the Charlotte scene (going from being dominantly nu-metal to: punk, noisy-rock, Americana, shoe-gazer. etc.) feeling they never quite fit in anywhere.
