Biography

Eric Dewayne July (born April 17, 1990, in Dallas, Texas) is an American musician, YouTuber, comic book writer, and libertarian political commentator. As the lead vocalist for the rap-metal band BackWordz and a contributor for Blaze TV network, July has left a mark on the realms of music and political discourse. He founded Rippaverse Comics, serving as its Chief Executive Officer, and is the lead writer for their debut comic book series, Isom. Prior to his current role, he served as the frontman for Fire from the Gods.

Known for his outspoken critique of social justice warriors (SJWs) and cancel culture, July's YouTube content spans real-life issues, delving into politics, pop culture, and their intersections with fictional mediums like comic books, movies, video games, and fellow YouTubers. Strongly opposing tokenization, a trend he deems lazy and disrespectful, July voices his disapproval of characters like Falcon as Captain America, Miles Morales as Spider-Man (whom he refers to as "Peter Darker"), and Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel (whom he calls "Kamala Harris Khan"). He often criticizes those who, in his view, support token characters without genuine engagement with the source material, dubbing them "crack smokers."

A proponent of the philosophy "monetize your haters," Eric engages with his critics rather than avoiding them, highlighting their arguments and beliefs in his content to generate further discussion and enrich himself in the process.

Beyond his online presence, Eric July is the frontman for BackWordz, described as a "libertarian Rage Against the Machine," showcasing his versatility as an independent rapper and commentator.
