"Experience" album was Breakbeat Hardcore (or Oldschool Rave). Later Liam Howlett started making more slower breakbeat. For this day his music is hard but not core;)

hardcore is a name to difenrentiate from the genre of punk rock called hardcore. Happy Hardcore is part of hardcore (the electronic music one that is being talked here.) The tag hardcore techno, is not being used to some sort of electronic genre that mix techno with hardcore.
