The Birobox workshops will be launching in january 2009 and will be nottingham's regular bi-monthly audio-visual event.
The night will showcase contemporary musical performances and live film, along with a variety of installations, projections and exhibitions, depending on the artists involved that night.
The night will be hosted by video artist, jim boxall (aka, the joy of box) and musicians, tom hill and andy tytherligh (aka origamibiro - expanding records), who will kick off the event with a fresh live performance piece, using infra-red spy cameras, typewriters, bubble-wrap, double bass, guitars and a variety of textured beats and melodies which will soundtrack live projections.
Also on the night – Dan Tombs & Luke Abbott deliver a dynamic mixture of glitch-tech electronica and deconstructed graphic landscapes using old sega megadrives, exploiting the untapped potential of these seemingly obsolete machines.
Plus, Vastik Root plays god, creating artificial life on a nintendo ds, where bass life-forms discharge a mutant maelstrom of randomised beats, honks and bleeps in an unrelenting generative sonic ooze.
And, Noel murphy (aka, Wauvenfold, bury&disinter, vdu) invites you to make beats with your feets as he turns the gallery room into an interactive audio-visual toybox.
