A two-day event celebrating its 10th anniversary in the town with Wurzels-flavoured, cider-fuelled Scrumpy & Western entertainment from The Mangledwurzels on the Saturday!
The festival, which is titled “Yate Rocks” this year, will take place on 20th and 21st June showcasing music from local bands and dance groups.
A two-day event celebrating its 10th anniversary in the town. Saturday's live music runs from noon to 8pm;, the event will be headlined by The Mangledwurzels who will be supported by bands Limited Edition, Skeeter, Goodnight Lois, Uncle Buck, Hitshot, Tundra and Progress Is Made. Dance groups Stagecoach, Glitterbugs, Pure Dance, Redds Dance Group and Street Cred will entertain all as well as arts and craft stalls, a beer tent provided by Wickwar Brewery and a bungee trampoline.
In addition, fun rides will be put in place for children including trampolines, giant inflatables, football games, side shows, activities and inflatables as well as demonstrations from local gym clubs and cheerleaders - and the chance to look over a Fire Engine provided by Yate Fire Brigade.
The Sunday morning will begin with "Praise in the Park" with local churches providing an outdoor service and a picnic in the park in the afternoon with entertainment including The Westerly Wind Band.
The Mangledwurzels are a three-piece Scrumpy & Western band based in Somerset writing and performing in the style of Adge Cutler. Formed in early 2005, the band has established themselves across the West Country with their highly entertaining live performances blending classic Wurzels songs with self-penned original compositions and pop standards 'Mangled' in true Wurzels tradition. The event will take place from 12pm to 8pm on the Saturday; The Mangledwurzels will be on stage from 3pm. 'Praise in the Park' on Sunday from 10.30am to 12pm followed by music acts from 2pm to 4pm.
