The "2 meter Sessies" are a Dutch radio/tv show hosted by Jan Douwe Kroeske that encourages artists to perform their songs in a relaxed, minimal and usually acoustic studio setting. The first sessions took place in april 1987and they continue to provide both established and new artist with a platform to experiment with their songs and let their hair down

Artist that have appeared at the '2 meter Sessies" include Counting Crows, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, REM, Bush, Anouk, Nirvana, Milow, Crowded House, Venice, K's Choice, Joe Cocker, De Dijk, Sepultura, dEUS, Kyteman, The Sheer, Heather Nova, Ed Kowalczyk and Coldplay (to give but a cross-section of national and international artists).

Irish artist Luka Bloom has become something of a resident artist having recorded numerous sessions over the years and having accompanied Kroeske for the 2 Meter Theatertour in 2009 where he played an acoustic set each evening and Kroeske told of his experiences over the years and played recording from the vast archives….

Several compilation albums of these sessions have been released as well as CD's/DVD's dedicated to just one artist. Some of the sessions tracks have also appeared as B-sides to singles.
