Auto-Tune is a proprietary audio processor that corrects pitch in vocal and instrumental performances. The use of Auto-Tune and similar programs to correct pitch is common in recorded music, and the program is standard equipment for recording studios. Auto-Tune is also used in live performances to guarantee a good vocal.
Auto-Tune can also be used to purposefully distort the human voice; T-Pain is famous for this technique.
Though the Auto-Tune brand is property of Antares Audio Technologies, "autotune" is often used as a generic term for any kind of pitch correcting software.
