The most popular rapper to come out of the Bay Area is Tupac Shakur, who was born in Harlem and lived in Baltimore for many years before his family relocated to Marin City, CA. 2Pac began his career as a roadie and backup dancer for the Oakland-based Digital Underground, but is more closely associated with Los Angeles. Of Bay Area natives, notable rappers include E-40, Mac Dre, and more recently Lil B.
