While there is no concrete definition for "Corridos Belicos" otherwise referred to as "Corridos Tumbados" they are a subgenre of Regional Mexican music that emerged in the early 2010s. The Spanish Royal Academy define "corrido" as: “Popular musical composition characteristic of Mexican folklore, Of content and structure similar to those of romance.”, while the concept of "belico"is defined as "belonging to war."
The term "tumbado" in Spanish can mean "knocked down" or "laid back," and it refers to the slower, more relaxed rhythm that characterizes Corridos Tumbados. This subgenre often features electronic beats, auto-tuned vocals, and lyrics that focus on themes such as drug trafficking, love, and social issues.
