Gyaru fashion is a type of Japanese street fashion that originated in the 1970’s. Gyaru or Gal are usually fashionable girls in their teens or twenties. Gyaru is a girly-glam style, breaking away from traditional standards of beauty in Japan. Ayumi Hamasaki and Namie Amuro are two of the biggest J-pop influences in the past for gyaru.
