'Landfill Indie' was a term coined in the mid-noughties by Andrew Harrison at Word Magazine, to describe a sub-genre of indie music which is made up of generic guitar bands. Examples include The Enemy, The Kooks and The View. During the mid-noughties, after bands like Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes had become a success, there was a large influx of indie bands on the British music scene, due to their commercial viability and the fact they were easy to market.
