Lesbiano is a style of music created in 1983 by Talking Heads with their song Making Flippy Floppy. The inspiration behind this genre was Patti Smith´s debut album Horses (1975). Some other lesbiano artists are Placebo, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Fiona Apple, Garbage, Pj Harvey, etc.
Some lesbiano song examples would be Moist Vagina by Nirvana, Leni and Mars Landing Party by Placebo, Queer by Garbage, Venus As A Boy by Björk, etc.
Lesbiano´s most prominent characteristic is the way it expresses admiration, love, and lust for women, not men. It is not unsual to see recurring imagery of female breasts, genitals, and lips. Not all Lesbiano songs are necesarily sexual, but most of them evoke erotic feelings and express desire to be with women. It would be wrong, however, to assume that this is an inherently sexual music genre, because, while it does serve the purpose of admiring and lusting after femdoms, it can also be gentle and express only admiration and devotion (usually while self-deprecating). Prime example of this would be the song Creep by Radiohead.
Some might argue that The Smiths should be a proto-lesbiano band, based on the way Johnny Marr looks (like a lesbian). This is actually false, and they fall in the category of plain Lesbiano. Songs like Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others are prime examples of this.
