Metro-ko is an aesthetic, scene and music micro-genre, birthed in November 2012, as a reaction to and evolution from Vaporwave. Metro-ko embraces a futuristic metropolitan solitude, combined with a yearning for connection with other individuals through New Media (the internet, mostly), minimalist aesthetics, and an appreciation for lo-fi pops, ambient/drone music, chopped and screwed, as well as the electronic music scene of the mid 1990s to early 2000s (particularly Burial, Echospace and the Future Sound of London.)
