Piseiro is a genre originated in the interior of northeast Brazil in the 2000s, characterized by the combination of electronic keyboards with vocal harmonization, and is typically considered a homemade style of Forró eletrônico. The music is played on a loud speaker, known as paredão, also used in Funk brasileiro bailes and Tecnobrega. Because the interior region is poorer and more sparsely populated, artists have had to make do with limited resources, and as a result the most common and most traditional form of piseiro involves just voice and keyboard.
Around 2018, a Brega funk-influenced style known as pisadinha (little/small step) emerged, attracting the attention of big names in the regional music scene, such as Wesley Safadão, who has helped to spread the style when including songs at his shows by managing the singer Eric Land. Another example of popular approach are the Barões da Pisadinha, that peaked in the national and global digital charts. Nelson Nascimento is considered to be the creator of the style.
