Spookycore (also known as Gothcore) is defined by bands that have a harder, faster, and heavier pace than Horror Punk, Deathrock, and Gothic Rock. It is influenced by those said genres, and blended with Hardcore or Metalcore music structures like breakdowns, gang vocals, and chants. Its an evolution, progression, or hybrid of the styles formentioned, for every style of music has its dark(er) side. Bands that made the style known are: The Misfits ("Earth A.D." album), AFI ("Black Sails In The Sunset" album), Aiden ("Our Gangs Dark Oath" to "Knives" albums), I Am Ghost ("We Are Always Searching" to present), and Bleeding Through ("Dust To Ashes" to "The Truth" albums) are some examples. This style ties in closely with the genres Horror Rock, Horror Hardcore, Goth-Punk, and Metalcore. It's also sometimes used to describe goth influenced nu metal band's.
