I agree on the Azam Ali and Rajna references-- I find I'm also reminded of the trilogy Sheila Chandra released on Real World back in the mid-90's.

Dakani is at least as good as Azam Ali's medieval release of a few years ago--"Portals of Grace." Darkly cinematic with gorgeous vocals. Also, for fans of Rajna.
